Rituals Retreat

19 Mar - 21 Mar

Rituals Retreat 19-21 March

Rituals are pathways to change. They are alchemy in action, the sacred portal from here to there. We need them just as a castle needs its hidden passageways. Straight lines, corridors and hallways don't always work. Sometimes we need to go off the map, to take a short cut through this three dimensional world. We need to move directly to Now without passing Go. There is a word, transubstantiation, to mysteriously change from the ordinary to the divine, without affecting its outward appearance. This is the essence of ritual - to take ordinary objects and reveal the sublime in them, in such a way that we ourselves are changed.

Rituals are movements of reconnection. Returning to balance, turning again to the centre, to peace, to presence. To be alive. When we have been riding the storm of life, when we have been lost or when we have lost ourselves they are the guide that brings us home.

During the retreat you will experience rituals from Celtic and Sufi traditions, from the world of yoga and gong. At the same time you will be guided into the understanding of how a ritual works, how to create rituals that are personal and relate to your own life. The retreat is structured as a journey so some rituals are scheduled, others will arise from the needs of the group. There will be rituals for rites of passage, grief and loss, inviting the presence of the divine and for celebration. This retreat is for those of you looking for a deeper spiritual connection in your own life, and for those wishing to create rituals and guide others through them as a path to insight or healing.

Guides are: Tim Jago & Jesper Lundqvist

We open the retreat circle on tuesday 19/3 at 14:00 and close it on thursday 21/3 at 17:00.

Preparation for the retreat and the  lodge:
The sweat lodge  is a powerful ceremony. Many people experience deep healing and powerful insights during the lodge. It's also a challenge, but there are things you can do to make the journey smoother.

In the days before the lodge, try to find an intention for your ceremony. it might be broad like healing from past experiences or it might be very specific like looking at a particular pattern in your life that doesn't support you. Or maybe you just want to reconnect to your spirit. Also be aware that powerful ceremonies can sometimes provoke a kind of emotional resistance. You may notice all kinds of feelings bubbling to the surface. Try to stay grounded and calm. Allow the feelings to come and go and just observe them.

Begin drinking water around 3 hours before the start time for the lodge. The more water you have in your body, the easier it is to deal with the heat. Eat your last meal before the lodge no later than 2 hours before the start. An empty stomach is more comfortable in the lodge.  Arrive in good time so that you can relax before the ceremony and let go of the everyday world before stepping into sacred space. We will be doing some meditation and preparation before entering the lodge.

Bring some loose comfortable clothes for moving around in and for meditations during the retreat.
