Cultivation joys, aesthetics, and locally produced ingredients

Visit the "Åkerkvinnene" in Brunlanes

Along our coastline, the experiences of the Åkerkvinnene are like pearls on a string. Six industrious women all have in common that they offer unique products and sensory experiences: farm shops, locations for special events, visit gardens, and a common cultivation culture are some of the things you can experience.

The Åkerkvinnene consist of Ingunns hage, Søndre Grevle gård, Skjærgårdshagen, Lillavendel, Kryssgaarden, and Grønn Glede. You can find them in the area between Stavern and Helgeroa, about a 10-20 minute drive from the hotel.

Unbeatable surroundings

The ocean and the archipelago

Few things match the majestic archipelago of Vestfold. Smooth, polished rocks, the open sea stretching to the horizon, and the salty, refreshing sea all around. A short boat trip from the hotel brings you to the fantastic Svenner Lighthouse. A true gem for excursions, both with and without dining options.

From 20.06 - 09.08 a boat departs daily from Dampskipkaia in Stavern to Svenner Lighthouse.
Stavern is about a 7-minute drive or a 30-minute bike ride from the hotel (bikes are available to borrow from the hotel).

Golf

Scenic surroundings

Larvik Golf Club is ideally located near Farris Bad, with a beautiful 18-hole course surrounded by stunning nature. The club offers challenges for both experienced golfers and beginners, and has excellent facilities such as practice areas and a welcoming clubhouse restaurant. Its location near the coast and Farris Lake provides a unique golfing experience in scenic surroundings.

We'll help you book tee-times.

Approximately a 5-minute drive from the hotel.

Arts & culture

The Beech Forest "Bøkeskogen"

A short stroll from the hotel, you'll find Bøkeskogen in Larvik – Norway's largest and northernmost beech forest. It is a very popular hiking area with beautiful trails and stunning views of the Larvik fjord. The forest, covering around 300 acres, is a nature reserve and offers a rich variety of wildlife and plant life. In spring, it is especially beautiful when the light green beech leaves begin to bud.

Bøkeskogen also has historical significance, with burial mounds from the Bronze Age and Iron Age. These burial mounds testify that the area has been used as a burial site for over 3,000 years. During the Iron Age, it was an important cultural site where people buried their dead under large stone mounds, often alongside personal belongings. The burial fields in Bøkeskogen are among the largest of their kind in Norway, offering a unique insight into prehistoric burial customs and societal structures. This makes the forest not only a picturesque hiking area but also an important cultural-historical site.

Within walking distance from the hotel.

The Nerdrum Museum

The renowned Norwegian classical painter Odd Nerdrum’s paintings and works are visually accessible to the general public at the Nerdrum Museum. The museum also shares knowledge about his life and career, with a special focus on classical figurative painting.

Through the permanent exhibition in the Pipe House at Agnes in Stavern, the breadth and highlights of the artist’s production over more than half a century are showcased. The Nerdrum Museum also functions as a cultural center, hosting concerts, conferences, events, and lectures.

No original works from the museum's collection, including paintings, sketches, drawings, and graphics, are for sale: the works are reserved for public interest and to be preserved as part of Norway's public cultural heritage.

Approximately a 7-minute drive from the hotel.
