Full Moon Sauna Journey at Farris Bad
Every month, under the light of the full moon, the sauna masters at Farris Bad invite you to take part in a guided ceremonial sauna journeyn an experience designed to support healing, balance, and conscious intention.
The ceremony begins at 21:00 and lasts approximately three hours. Through a slow, intentional rhythm and a gradual rise in temperature, the session gently guides participants into a deep meditative state.
Sign-up sheets are available inside the spa prior to the ritual.
The Energy of the Full Moon
The full moon represents the peak of the lunar cycle, a time when energy is at its strongest and most expansive. This intensity can amplify emotions, awareness, and inner processes. While the moon’s energy is always present, the full moon offers a powerful opportunity to consciously connect, cleanse, heal, and plant intentions that will carry you into the next lunar cycle.
When the sun and moon stand opposite each other in the sky, many people experience a sense of imbalance. Restlessness, heightened emotions, stress, anxiety, or disrupted sleep are common—especially for those sensitive to natural rhythms. This sauna journey is designed to help harmonize these opposing forces by aligning your inner rhythm with the rhythm of nature.
Synchronizing with the lunar cycle can be both grounding and revitalizing. The moon completes a full cycle approximately every 29 days, moving from new moon to full moon and back again—each phase signaling a shift in energy. During this ceremony, we work consciously with this cycle to restore equilibrium, presence, and flow.
The Journey Begins
The process starts outside the sauna, where the sauna masters welcome the group, explain the journey, and guide a preparatory phase lasting approximately 30 minutes. This stage is an essential part of the experience, allowing time to cleanse, center, and release mental and physical tension before entering the ceremonial space.
This preparation is not strictly timed it may be shorter or longer depending on the group. The most important invitation for participants is to let go of controlling time and simply be present with the process.
Inside the Ceremony
The full moon sauna journey consists of 4–5 heating stages, each followed by short cooling breaks. You will not remain inside the sauna for the full three hours continuously. The pacing is intentional and supportive, allowing the body and nervous system to adapt gradually.
Live instruments, drums, and sound elements are used during the ceremony to support emotional release, grounding, and inner exploration. The artists and musicians will be seated on the far right side of the sauna, where benches are prepared for them please respect this space.
How to Prepare
Because this is a long and intensive session, hydration is essential.
Begin drinking water 2–3 hours before the ceremony
Aim to consume 2–3 liters gradually over time
Proper hydration supports thermoregulation and makes the experience significantly more pleasant
Dehydration is the biggest challenge during long sauna sessions. If you feel thirsty during the ceremony, it is already a sign of dehydration listen to your body, cool down, and hydrate slowly during breaks. After the ceremony, remember to replenish water, minerals, and salts.
Health, Safety & Comfort
Only participate if you feel healthy and well. Never attend while sick.
If you are pregnant, please inform the sauna masters in advance. We recommend sitting on the lower tiers or floor, close to the door, for easy access if needed.
We recommend experiencing the ceremony with as little clothing as possible. Ideally, participate naked. Synthetic materials (such as polyester swimwear) prevent proper evaporation of sweat, increasing the risk of overheating.
If you are new to sauna or long ceremonial processes, choose a lower level or the floor this is always welcome and encouraged to enjoy the process.
Important safety guidelines:
If you experience dizziness, nausea, or discomfort, immediately signal a sauna master. Help will be provided.
Lie down if needed to prevent falling injuries.
Never go to the ocean bath alone always go with someone.
Do not push yourself. This is not about performance or endurance. Rest, step out, and listen to your body.
Alcohol or drugs are strictly prohibited before and during the ceremony.
